Homemade Movie sound and video camera help needed?
Ok what kind of mics do they use in movies? do boom mics just pick up background sound and the voices are recorded separately and if so what voice recorders do they use anything that can be substituted for something cheaper? and does anyone know were i can get a manuel for a Panasonic Leica Dicomar 3ccd 1.2 megapixel video camera maodel number PV-GS70D?
movies are shot silent. the voices are over-dubbed if possible to make editing easier. its not uncommon for the "voice" in a hollywood movie to not be the person pictured as some actors are not skillful at over-dubbing, or remembering lines for that matter. the rest of the soundtrack is similarly constructed from sources that were not at the shoot, ie tone, foley, music.... all added later in a re-recording session. so the mic most commonly used is a large studio condensor with omni pattern for minimum spectral coloration.
