I would like to buy a HDV camcorder.?
I would like to buy a professional HDV camcorder. It doesn't have to cost $10000 but I'm not looking for a cheap piece of crap either.
Is Sony HVR Z1U any good?
I have a Z1 and it's a good camera, but you probably also want to look at the XL-H1. That has a somewhat higher resolution and you can change lenses on it, but the standard lens suffers from more chromatic aberration than the Z1. The V1 may also be worth a look, since that can shoot progressive as well as interlaced, and most 1080 displays are now progressive.
The only real problems with the Z1 are in the HDV format itself (which is obviously common to all the cameras) and that it's not very comfortable to carry around.
