Which Is The Better Advanced Camera?
I am trying to decide between the Sony DSC-H50/B and the Canon G9. Both have their ups and downs.
H50 has Image Stabilization, BIONZ technology (ability to shoot in pitch black), Smile Detection, Very large zoom, and long lasting battery life. Plus in my opinion looks better than the G9.
The G9 Has way better picture quality though (Except at night), It has RAW mode, and it has 3 more megapixels. The quality of this camera is to take note of, at least for a point and shoot.
I guess if that Sony had RAW mode it would have won hands down, but as a photographer I want that extra crisp detail....what would you do?
If RAW is really important to you, I would suggest you save the few hundred dollars more, that you buy an entry level DSLR ... in the case of the G9 it is nearly the same price as a Nikon D40 with a 18-55 mm AF-S lens ($470), after all DSLR sensors are sometimes over 15 times larger than the point and shoot cameras.
DSLR sensor size = 23.6 x 15.8 mm
Canon G9 sensor size = 7.6 x 5.7 mm
Sony H50 sensor size = 6.16 x 4.62 mm
Size is the important factor ... not pixel count
